AhaSlides Alternative

An AhaSlides alternative built for a trivia night

AhaSlides is a strong piece of presentation software: polls, word clouds and quiz slides that wake a room up mid-talk. Quizado is not presentation software at all. It is a trivia night, with teams, rounds, buzzers and a leaderboard.

The short answer

AhaSlides makes a presentation interactive; Quizado makes an evening out of the game itself, so if you want teams, buzzer races and a season table rather than an engaging deck, the two products are solving different problems.

Por Que Cambiar de AhaSlides?

Five quiz questions is half a round

Their free plan allows up to 5 quiz questions and 3 poll questions in a single presentation, with the audience capped at 50 (ahaslides.com, checked August 2026). A pub round is normally ten.

The Quizado free plan runs a whole Bar Trivia night, several rounds deep, for up to sixteen players. The limit is the room size, not the length of the quiz.

Everyone plays alone

Audience tools count individual responses. That is right for a training room. In a bar it means the table of six who came together are competing with each other instead of with the next table.

Quizado is team-shaped from the start. A table picks a name, answers together and holds one score, which is the part that makes people argue happily for two hours.

Every night is a deck to build

A quiz built as slides has to be laid out question by question, week after week, and the scoring rules live in your head rather than in the file.

Pick a question pack, choose the scoring mode, and the layout, timing and points are already handled. Save it and run the same shape next week. Writing your own question sets, and generating one with AI credits, starts on Trivia Pro.

No race to the buzzer

Poll and quiz slides collect answers. They do not decide who got there first, which is the moment a room gets loud.

In a Buzzer Race round the host console locks the first buzz it receives, and the whole room sees that team appear on the big screen.

Nothing carries into next week

A presentation ends when the deck ends. There is no reason for the same six people to come back on the same night in seven days.

Leagues and seasons keep a table running across weeks. Second place in April is a reason to book the table again in May.

A meeting room is quiet, a bar is not

Presentation tools assume the presenter can be heard and the audience is looking at one screen. A busy Friday has neither of those things reliably.

Quizado is designed around a host with a microphone, a big screen with large type and a phone in every hand, so the game survives a room that is not paying full attention.

Construido desde cero para bar trivia moderno y eventos en vivo.

Round types out of the box

Five round types, six with Music Bingo on Hospitality Group: Buzzer Race, Everyone Answers, Everyone Scores, Knockout and Wager. Each one has its own scoring behavior, so you change the feel of a round by choosing a mode, not by rebuilding slides.

Teams and a live leaderboard

Players group into teams, teams hold scores, and the standings update on the display between rounds without anyone adding anything up.

Scan and play

A QR code puts a player into the game in one scan, in the phone browser, with no install and no account. Latecomers can join a game already in progress.

A display made for a big screen

The external display window shows the question, the countdown and the scores in type you can read from the back of the room, while the host keeps the answers private.

Questions you do not have to write

Free question packs come with the free plan and a premium library opens on paid plans. From Trivia Pro you also get monthly AI credits, which turn a topic into a Bar Trivia round when you want something local.

Game-show formats

Family Feud and Jeopardy on the Hospitality Group plan are host-run: you read the prompt, teams answer out loud, and you award the points from the console.

What AhaSlides is genuinely good at

Start with the fair version. AhaSlides is interactive presentation software and it does that job well. Checked in August 2026 on ahaslides.com, it offers quiz slides, live polls, word clouds, ranking polls, a spinner wheel, anonymous Q&A, an idea board, pin-on-image responses, an AI slides maker and reporting. The audience joins with a QR code or a link on their own devices and responds in real time. It plugs into PowerPoint, Google Slides, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and other tools, so an interactive moment can be dropped into a deck you already had.

If your problem is that people stop listening twenty minutes into a training session, that is exactly the right toolkit. A word cloud on a hard question, a poll to break up a long explanation, a five-question quiz at the end to check who was awake. We would recommend a tool like that for a conference talk without hesitation.

Their free plan is limited in the way most presentation tools are: up to 5 quiz questions and 3 poll questions in one presentation, with the audience capped at 50 participants. Paid tiers raise those limits, and yearly billing is discounted. Their pricing table moves, so check their site for current pricing rather than trusting a number in an article.

Where a deck runs out of road

The mismatch appears the moment somebody tries to run a real pub quiz on presentation software. A trivia night is not a sequence of slides with questions on them. It is a structure: rounds with different scoring rules, teams that persist, a host who needs to see answers the room must not see, a leaderboard that means something, and a finish that has some drama in it.

You can approximate parts of that. What you cannot easily approximate is the scoring behavior. A knockout round where wrong answers eliminate you, an Everyone Scores round where every correct answer counts, a wager round where teams stake points before they see the question, a buzzer race where the console locks the first buzz it receives. Those are game rules, not slide layouts, and they have to be built into the software that is running the night.

The other thing that shows up quickly is preparation time. A host who runs a quiz every week is building fifty-two decks a year by hand. In Quizado a night is assembled from packs, generated rounds and saved templates, and the parts that never change, such as timing, points and the look of the display, are simply not your problem.

Teams, rounds and a table on the wall

Teams change the social shape of a room. Six friends arriving together want one name on the board, one argument about the answer and one moment of triumph. Individual scoring splits them up and quietly turns a night out into a test.

Rounds give the evening a rhythm. A gentle opener, a picture or music round in the middle, a knockout to thin the field, then a wager finish where the team in fourth can still steal it. That arc is what people mean when they say a quiz was well run, and it is built from scoring modes rather than from good slide design.

The league table is the last piece. Once a season is running, the room stops treating each week as a one-off. It is the feature venues ask about most: something that makes the same teams come back on the same night without being asked. Leagues and seasons start on Trivia Pro.

Who should stay, who should switch

Keep AhaSlides if...

For a lot of jobs it is simply the better tool, and we are happy to say so.

  • +Your main use is presentations, training or teaching
  • +You want word clouds, Q&A, idea boards or a spinner wheel
  • +The interactive part has to live inside PowerPoint, Google Slides or Teams
  • +A short quiz at the end of a talk is all you need

Use Quizado if...

The moment the quiz becomes the event, the requirements change.

  • +The quiz is the whole evening, not a slide in a deck
  • +People play in teams and want one score per table
  • +You need buzzer, knockout and wager scoring rules
  • +You are running it weekly and want a season table

How to switch in 3 steps

1

Keep the deck, add the game

There is no reason to cancel a presentation tool you use at work. Set Quizado up alongside it for the nights where the quiz is the point rather than an interlude.

2

Rebuild your best quiz as rounds

Take the questions from the deck that worked and assign each block a scoring mode. The same content plays very differently once a knockout or a wager is attached to it. Writing your own question sets starts on Trivia Pro.

3

Run it with teams and a table

Let people join as teams, put the leaderboard on the big screen between rounds, and start a season so the standings carry into the next one.

What AhaSlides does that we do not

AhaSlides is a good product and it covers a lot of ground we deliberately do not: word clouds, anonymous Q&A, idea boards, spinner wheels, an AI slides maker, and integrations with PowerPoint, Google Slides, Teams and Zoom. Quizado has no slide editor and no integrations at all. If your day job is presenting, keep using them. We only claim to be better at one thing, which is running a trivia night.

Preguntas Frecuentes

You can run a quiz as a sequence of quiz slides, and plenty of people do for a one-off. What you do not get is team scoring, buzzer races, knockout or wager scoring rules, or a table that carries across weeks. For a single office quiz that is fine. For a weekly venue night it becomes a lot of manual work.
Checked in August 2026, their site describes a free plan that allows up to 5 quiz questions and 3 poll questions within a single presentation, with the audience limited to 50 participants. Paid tiers raise those limits. Check their site for current pricing and limits.
No word clouds, no idea boards and no spinner wheel. There is audience voting, which lets the room vote on answers as part of a game round, but it is a trivia mechanic rather than a presentation tool. If you want the full audience-interaction toolkit, a presentation product is the right purchase.
Players join by QR code and sit in a team. The team holds the score, the leaderboard shows teams rather than individuals, and a season table can track teams across many nights. That is the main structural difference from an audience-response tool.
Media questions with image, audio and video are available from the Trivia Pro plan up, and Name That Tune is a built-in music format. You are responsible for your own music licence, the same as with any other music played in a venue.
No. There are no integrations. For a video call you share the display window on screen and players answer on their phones, which works, but it is not an embedded slide add-in. If integration matters to you, that is a real point against us.
There is a free plan with Bar Trivia, free question packs, big-screen themes, one venue and up to sixteen players, with no card required. Trivia Pro lifts the player cap and adds your own question sets, media rounds, monthly AI credits, leagues and a custom logo. Family Feud, Jeopardy and Music Bingo are on Hospitality Group.
No, they scan a QR code and play in the phone browser. Only the host needs an app, and even that can be a browser tab, though there are desktop apps for Windows, macOS and Linux and mobile apps for iOS, iPadOS and Android.

Run your first night this week

Start free with the built-in packs, put the QR code on the TV and see how the room reacts. Writing your own question sets starts on Trivia Pro.
