SpeedQuizzing built its name on fast buzz-in rounds played through its own app. Quizado keeps the speed, drops the app install, and adds Family Feud, Jeopardy and Music Bingo on Hospitality Group.
SpeedQuizzing sells you a night at a time with a question pack included, while Quizado is a monthly host account that covers bar trivia, joins players by QR code with no app download, generates bar trivia rounds with AI credits from Trivia Pro, and adds Family Feud, Jeopardy and Music Bingo on Hospitality Group.
Players install the free SpeedQuizzing app from the App Store, Google Play or Amazon before they can play (speedquizzing.com, checked August 2026). The walk-in who arrives at ten past eight is still on the app store when round one starts.
Quizado players scan a QR code and answer in the browser that is already on the phone. Latecomers join mid-round without asking anyone for a password.
Their model is credits: one Pro activation costs three credits, with price breaks for buying more (speedquizzing.com, checked August 2026). A weekly quiz means budgeting activation by activation for the rest of the year.
Quizado is one monthly plan whether you run one night a month or five a week, so a busy December does not cost more than a quiet February.
Their strength is the buzz-in game, in Classic and Advanced variations, with multiple choice, letters, numbers and Nearest Wins alongside it. That is a quiz. It is not a games night.
On Hospitality Group, Quizado can turn Tuesday into Family Feud, Thursday into a Jeopardy board and the last week of the month into Music Bingo, all from the same host account.
Quizpacks arrive ready made, which is convenient until you want a round on your own high street, the local derby or the brewery whose tap takeover is on next week.
Type the topic into Quizado and read the bar trivia round back. Edit anything that misses, then run it. Monthly AI credits start on Trivia Pro.
A one-off scoreboard gives the winners a round of applause and nothing to come back for. The tables you want are the ones chasing a title.
Leagues and seasons keep a running table across weeks, so the team in second place has a reason to book the same table next Tuesday. Leagues start on Trivia Pro.
SpeedQuizzing Pro is a desktop application for Windows or Mac. If the laptop is at home, the night is at home with it.
Quizado hosts from an iPad on the bar, an Android tablet, a phone in your hand or a browser tab on any machine in the building.
Built from the ground up for modern bar trivia and live events.
The QR code goes on the screen and on the table tents. Guests scan and play. Nobody is asked to make an account, free up storage or update an app before the first question.
In a Buzzer Race round the host console locks the first buzz it receives and puts that team on the screen. That is the round most pub crowds shout loudest at.
Name That Tune runs from the host device, with the audio question on the display and the answers coming in from phones. Music Bingo joins it on Hospitality Group. You stay responsible for your own music licence.
AI generation turns a topic into a full bar trivia round, and every question stays editable. Monthly AI credits start on Trivia Pro, so a themed night stops being a Sunday afternoon of research.
An external display window shows the question, the countdown and the live leaderboard on the TV or projector, while your console stays private on the host device.
From Trivia Pro, set up a league, run a season and publish the table. Teams keep their names week to week and the standings are the reason they book ahead.
SpeedQuizzing does not sell a subscription. Checked in August 2026, their pricing page explains a credit system: one SpeedQuizzing Pro activation costs three credits, credits are bought up front, price breaks apply when you buy more, and the credits do not expire. Each activation comes with a Quizpack of trivia questions, and Quizpacks are published in UK, US and Universal editions. There is a demo mode limited to four player devices. They do not show a currency figure on that page, so check their site for current pricing.
That model is genuinely good for an occasional host. If you run a charity quiz twice a year, paying per event and owning the credits forever beats a subscription every time. It gets less comfortable the busier you are: a host with four rooms on four nights is buying four activations a week and doing arithmetic before every booking.
Quizado charges for the host account, not the night. Start free with the built-in packs, phone buzzers, the big-screen display and up to sixteen players at one venue, with no card. Neighborhood Pub opens the premium question library and lifts the player cap. Writing your own question sets starts on Trivia Pro, which also adds media rounds, monthly AI credits, leagues and a custom logo. Hospitality Group adds Family Feud, Jeopardy, Music Bingo, custom fonts and colours, bulk import and up to three venues. Run as many nights as you like on any of them. Current figures are on the pricing page.
SpeedQuizzing is a British company, and a lot of its work is UK pubs, so it is worth being specific about how a Quizado night maps onto a normal British quiz.
Teams work the way you already run them. A table picks a name, one phone joins for the table, and the answers come in from that phone, so a group of six does not need six devices out on the tablecloth. Buzzer Race covers the fastest-finger round. Everyone Answers is the standard written round without the paper. Everyone Scores is there when you want every table on the board. Knockout runs a last-team-standing round when you want the bar watching a single pair of tables. Wager lets teams stake points on the final question, which is the jackpot moment most quizzes end on.
Two practical points. Quizado has no offline mode, so a cellar bar with no signal needs the host device on the most reliable connection in the building before you advertise the night. And the app plays music rounds but does not come with a music licence, which in the UK you sort out with the usual licensing bodies exactly as you do for the jukebox.
If you host for a living, the sums are different from a landlord running one night. Your cost per event is the thing you protect, because the fee per room is fixed and every activation comes out of it.
One Quizado account covers every room you host in, so the fifth night in a week costs the same as the first. Hospitality Group covers up to three venues, so each pub keeps its own teams and its own season table rather than sharing one long list. Trivia Pro puts your own logo on the display, which matters when you are the brand the pubs are booking, not the software. Custom fonts and colours are Hospitality Group.
The other lever is content. From Trivia Pro, generating a bar trivia round from a topic means you can sell a themed night to a venue on Monday and deliver it on Wednesday, instead of telling them to wait for the next pack.
They are good at what they do, and for some hosts the fit is already right.
These are the four things hosts tell us pushed them to try something else.
Open a free account, pick a built-in question pack, and open the display window on the TV. Fifteen minutes is enough to know whether the format suits your room.
Print the QR code for the tables and use it for a single quiz. The thing to watch is how much faster the room is in the game when nobody is installing anything.
Credits do not expire, so there is no rush and nothing to cancel. Use up what you bought, start a Quizado season table in parallel, and let the regulars pick the winner.
Two things, and they are real. First, there is no subscription: you buy credits, they never expire, and an occasional host pays nothing between events. Quizado has a free plan but its paid tiers are monthly. Second, every activation includes a written Quizpack, which is a finished quiz in your hands with no preparation at all. Quizado gives you packs, an editor and a generator, but somebody still chooses what goes on screen. If you want to turn up and read, their model is less work.
New to running a night in-house? Start with the bar trivia software overview, then look at the trivia host app if you would rather run everything from a phone or laptop behind the bar.
Start free with the built-in packs, put the QR code on the TV and see how the room reacts. Writing your own question sets starts on Trivia Pro.
