Both settings work on every plan, the free Home plan too. You set them on the Jeopardy setup screen before the board opens, and they stay for the whole game.
Choose Jeopardy
Select New Game in the sidebar, then select the Jeopardy card.
Pick a board
Under Add your questions, select a pack. Then select Start game under Review & launch. The Jeopardy setup screen opens.
Choose TV mode
Under Play style, select TV mode (Clue only, answers out loud.). The other style, Options on screen, shows the possible answers under each clue.
Make wrong answers cost the clue
Under Wrong answers, select Cost the clue value (Guessing has a price.). The default, Cost nothing, only scores right answers.
Open the board
Select Start the game. Read the categories out, then select a team under Pick who starts.
Open a clue
Select the tile the team calls. In TV mode the big screen shows the clue only. The answers on your panel are your answer key, and the room never sees them.
Mark a wrong answer
Under Who answered first?, select the team that buzzed, then select the answer they gave. A wrong answer takes the clue value off their score, and they are locked out of that clue.
Tips
- Other teams can still take a clue after a wrong answer. Select the next team that buzzes.
- Nobody knows it? Select No takers to reveal the answer with no score.
- With Cost nothing, a wrong answer only locks the team out of that clue, unless your own set gives wrong answers negative points.
Questions
Can I change the play style during the game?
No. You pick the play style and the wrong-answer rule on the setup screen, before the board opens.
What does the room see in Options on screen?
The big screen shows the possible answers under each clue. It never marks the right one until you reveal it.
Do Daily Doubles follow the wrong-answer rule?
No. On a Daily Double a wrong answer always takes the bet off, whatever the Wrong answers setting.
