How to run trivia for team building, in the office or remote

A trivia hour is one of the easiest team events to run. Each team plays on a phone, the office votes on a few fun questions, and the Game Screen does the rest, in the room or on a video call.

Before you start

Trivia runs on every plan. The free Home plan admits up to 4 player phones per game, so for more teams use a paid plan or the 7-day trial. Audience votes need Starter or higher, and you write the vote questions yourself: hosting a pack you wrote needs Pro or Business. For a remote team, your video call app shares the screen, not Quizado.

  1. Chapter 1

Build a pack for your team

In the sidebar, click Custom Questions and Edit your pack. Start with a round of Audience vote questions about office life, such as the best snack, then add a round of general trivia. Two rounds of a few questions fill a lunch break.

  2. Chapter 2

    Open the lobby

Click Use in game, then Start game. In the lobby, keep Collect audience votes on Live, per question, so the room votes as each question comes up.

  3. Chapter 3

Let each department make a team

Click the Players code in the top bar to copy the join link and paste it in your team chat. One person per team opens it, taps Create a team and types a name. Sales against Finance against IT is half the fun.

  4. Chapter 4

Put the Game Screen on the wall or in the call

Click Game Screen in the top bar and move the window to the meeting room TV. For a remote team, share that window in your video call app. Everyone sees the questions, the timer and the scores.

  5. Chapter 5

    Let the office vote

Click Start Game, then Start: with the first round name. When a vote question comes up, click Start audience vote. The Game Screen shows a QR code, so colleagues who watch can vote on their phones. Click Close voting & continue when the votes are in.

  6. Chapter 6

Teams guess what the office said

The top pick becomes the right answer, and the teams now guess it on their phones. Reveal the answer and the Game Screen shows what the crowd picked. Nobody can study for this round, so every team has a chance.

  7. Chapter 7

    Play the trivia round

The standings show between rounds. Start the next round and move each question on with the main button: Lock Answers, Reveal Answer, Next Question. The scores update after every reveal.

  8. Chapter 8

    Crown the winner

After the last question, the Game Screen shows the podium and the Winner. The final standings stay up, so the winning team gets its moment and a photo.

  9. Chapter 9

    Share the recap

Click View Summary. On Final Standings, click Share and choose Copy Text for the team chat. After a Trivia game Quizado also makes a short recap video to download.

Tips

  • Keep it short. Two or three rounds of 3 to 5 questions fit in 30 to 45 minutes, and people leave wanting more.
  • Mix the teams across departments if you want people to meet, or keep departments together if you want a friendly rivalry.
  • On a video call, give the rounds a longer time limit in the round settings. A call can lag by a few seconds.
  • Write one or two questions about your own company, such as the year it started. They get the biggest laughs.
  • A small prize helps: the winners pick the next team lunch, or they get a trophy on their desk for a month.

Questions

Do my colleagues need an app or an account?

No. They open the join link or scan the QR code in the phone browser and type a team name.

Can remote and office colleagues play in the same game?

Yes. Colleagues in the room scan the QR code on the TV, and remote colleagues open the join link. Everyone answers on their own phone.

Which video call app works?

Any app that can share a window, such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. Quizado needs no special connection to it.

How many teams can play?

On a paid plan or the 7-day trial there is no limit on phones. The free Home plan admits up to 4 player phones per game.

Free plan

Your turn. Run your first night free.

The Home plan costs nothing: free question packs and up to 4 player phones. No card needed.
