Run a night

How do I let Auto-Host run the night for me?

Auto-Host plays the host's part of a Trivia night. It opens answering, runs the clock, locks, reveals, scores and moves on, so you can sit down and play.

Every plan

Captions are on the video.

Before you start

Auto-Host works on every plan, with any Trivia pack you can host. It does not read the questions aloud: the big screen and the phones show them. Start a Trivia night first, so the lobby is open.

  1. Start with Auto-Host

In the lobby, under How it runs, pick Let Quizado run it. The start button becomes Start with Auto-Host: click it. One click starts the night. You do not need to wait for the teams.

  2. Let the first team join

Auto-Host holds on the join screen until the first team arrives. Then it moves on to the first round by itself.

  3. Watch it run the questions

Auto-Host opens answering, runs the clock, locks the answers, reveals and scores. The bar at the top says Run the game automatically while it drives.

  4. Pause for a moment

Press the main button yourself and Auto-Host pauses with Auto paused. Click Resume auto to hand the night back.

  5. Take over for good

Click Switch to hosting myself to run the rest of the night yourself with the main button.

Tips

  • Click Set up Auto-Host before you start to choose the Pace, what happens Between rounds (Keep going or Wait for me) and whether the night starts on its own once enough teams are in.
  • While Auto-Host runs, its lines show as a caption on the big screen. Player phones do not show them. To turn them off, switch off Host lines on the big screen in the Auto-Host settings.
  • The big screen also reads the lines out loud in an MC voice, team names included. Switch off MC voice or move MC voice volume in the Auto-Host settings. To keep one team's name out of it, open that team's menu and pick Mute name in MC voice.
  • On an open question that needs your marks, the bar says Auto-Host is waiting for you: mark the answers and it carries on. With AI marking on (the default), AI marks drawings and answers with no answer key for 1 AI question per question, and the bar says AI is marking the answers.... You can still mark first; your mark wins. Undo works on AI marks too.
  • Under When AI is not sure, pick Give the point or No point.
  • On an audience-vote question, Auto-Host opens the vote and closes it after 30 seconds. Everyone sees the countdown. You can close it sooner.
  • When Auto-Host lets a player in while you are away, a note at the top of your panel says so, for example Auto-Host let Sam in while you were away. Click Got it to clear it.

Questions

Does Auto-Host read the questions aloud?

No. An MC voice on the big screen says many of the host lines, never the questions. The questions show on the big screen and on the players' phones. While it runs, the big screen shows what Auto-Host says as a caption.

Can I use Auto-Host with any pack?

Yes. If a pack has open questions that need marking, the lobby tells you how many AI will mark and how many AI questions that takes. Without enough AI questions, Auto-Host waits for your marks on the rest.

What if I click something by mistake?

A manual press only pauses Auto-Host. Click Resume auto and it carries on from there.
