How to run a music quiz night with Name That Tune and Music Bingo

A music night is the easiest room to win over: people sing along before they even answer. Here is a whole night in one pack, from the first clip to the last BINGO.

Before you start

Music Bingo needs the Business plan to host, and the 7-day trial includes it. So does a pack like this one, which mixes song rounds and a bingo round you built yourself. Name That Tune alone with the free Name That Tune Starter pack plays on every plan. The clips play from YouTube on the computer you host on, so check that YouTube plays on the venue network and connect that computer to the speakers.

  1. Chapter 1

Build one pack for the whole night

Put every round in one pack, so the scores run all night. Start Music Bingo from a music pack once in New Game, and Quizado saves the bingo as your own pack under Custom Questions. Click Edit on it, choose Rounds from another pack next to Add round, and add the Name That Tune rounds. Move round up puts them before the bingo.

  2. Chapter 2

Start it with Use in game

In the pack builder, click Use in game. New Game opens on your pack at Review & launch, with the rounds and minutes. Click Start game and the lobby opens.

  3. Chapter 3

Put the Game Screen on the TV

Click Game Screen in the top bar and move the window to the TV or projector. It shows the join QR code now and every question, reveal and score later. The music plays from your computer, so this is the moment to test the speakers.

  4. Chapter 4

    Teams join on their phones

Each table scans the QR code, taps Create a team and types a name. No app, no account. Every team pops up on the big screen as it joins, which gets the room talking before the first song.

  5. Chapter 5

    Round 1: Name That Tune

Click Start Game, then Start: with the round name. The clip plays in the music dock on your screen, and every team picks the title on its phone. Reveal Answer shows who got it, then Next Question plays the next song.

  6. Chapter 6

    Round 2: a Buzzer Race

Click Start Next Round: for the Buzzer Race. Now only the fastest team answers: phones show BUZZ IN, and the first buzz gets the pick. A wrong title costs points and hands the buzzer back to the room.

  7. Chapter 7

    Show the scores between rounds

After each round the Game Screen shows the standings, and your panel shows Current Standings. Give the room a minute here: it is the best time for drinks and a bit of banter.

  8. Chapter 8

    Round 3: Music Bingo

Start the bingo round and every team gets its own card on its phone. Click Play first song, then Next song. Teams tap a tile when they hear its song, and Songs called on your panel keeps the list.

  9. Chapter 9

    Check the BINGO call

A team with a line taps Call BINGO! and its row shows Called BINGO. Click Review, then Reveal to room: the big screen shows whether every song was called and pays the points. Click Continue to play on.

  10. Chapter 10

    Crown the winner

Click End round here, then Finish game - show the podium. The Game Screen shows the podium and keeps the winners up until you click Exit. One bingo can turn the whole table around.

  11. Chapter 11

    Share the recap

Click View Summary for the Winner, the Final Standings and the stats of every question. Share gives you text for a group chat or an image for your socials.

Tips

  • Open with the easy songs. A warm-up everyone knows gets people singing, and a singing room stays for bingo.
  • Put bingo last. It keeps every table in the game, because a team at the bottom can still win with one card.
  • Keep the volume up for the clips and down for the reveals, so you can talk over the Game Screen.
  • Play the room's decade. The Quizado music packs cover the eighties, nineties, rock and more, and your own playlist works too.
  • You hold the venue's music licence for anything you play.

Questions

Do players need an app or paper cards?

No. Teams join in the phone browser with the QR code. Their bingo card is on the phone too.

Can the room see the song title or the video?

No. The video plays only in the music dock on your screen. The big screen shows the question and the options, and the title appears on the reveal.

What if YouTube is blocked at the venue?

The clips do not play. Check a YouTube video on the venue network before the night, or host from a phone hotspot.

Can I use my own playlist?

Yes. In New Game, pick Paste a playlist URL or My Music Packs. Building the game is free on every plan, and hosting your own songs needs Pro.

Free plan

Your turn. Run your first night free.

The Home plan costs nothing: free question packs and up to 4 player phones. No card needed.
