This works on every plan. The free Home plan admits up to 4 player phones per game, so a fifth phone cannot join. Paid plans and the 7-day trial have no phone limit. Start a Trivia night first, so the lobby is open.
Choose who needs your OK
In the lobby, under New teams, pick Let them in, Ask me mid-game or Always ask. With Ask me mid-game, teams that join before the start appear under Teams at once.
Let a teammate in
When a player asks to join an existing team, the team captain can approve it on their phone. You see the request too, at the top of your panel. Click Let them in.
Let a late team in
Late teams join with the same code. Once the game runs, a new team waits at the door. Click Let them in. The team starts at 0 points.
Decline a team
Click Decline to keep a team or a player out. Their phone says the host did not let them in, so they can ask you and try again.
Remove a team
Under Scores, click the x on the team's row. The browser asks you to confirm. Click OK, and the team leaves the game.
Tips
- When several requests wait, the banner answers the oldest one first.
- When a captain lets a teammate in, your panel says so: "approved by the captain".
- With Auto-Host on, new teams and teammates get in by themselves. When you come back, the panel says who Auto-Host let in while you were away.
Questions
Can a team join after the game has started?
Yes. It scans the same QR code or types the same code. With the default Ask me mid-game setting, you let it in with one click. It starts at 0 points.
Who approves a player who joins an existing team?
The team captain on their phone, or you on the control panel. Either one can let the player in or decline.
What happens to a removed team's points?
They go with the team. The team leaves the scoreboard and the standings, and its phones are out of the game.
