Play QuizoParty on iPhone Duo

QuizoParty, our Jeopardy-style game, fits in your hands on an iPhone Duo. The room sees the board on the outer screen, and you pick clues and judge answers with your thumbs.

Every plan
1 of 6This is iPhone Duo, closed. It has a second screen on the outside, about the size of one half of the inner screen.

The animation shows QuizoParty on one iPhone Duo in six steps:

  1. This is iPhone Duo, closed. It has a second screen on the outside, about the size of one half of the inner screen.
  2. Open it like a book. The big inner screen is your host panel.
  3. Fold it to about 90 degrees. Hold the flat half like a gamepad, then tap Turn on the room screen.
  4. The outer screen faces the room. Teams see the board and the team that picks the next clue.
  5. The inner screen faces you. The flat half is the board. Tap the clue the team calls, then the team that answered first, then Correct or Wrong.
  6. Close the phone, and the room screen goes off. Your game stays where it is. Fold it back to about 90 degrees to show the room again.
Before you start

You need an iPhone Duo with iOS 27.1 or later and the Quizado app for iPhone. QuizoParty plays online on every plan, the free Home plan too; premium packs need Starter, and your own set needs Pro. Up to 4 teams play. iOS shows our game on the outer screen only while the camera is on, so you see the camera dot. Nothing is recorded or sent.

  1. Start QuizoParty

Start QuizoParty in the Quizado app as usual and set it up in the lobby. The controller appears on the control panel once the game runs.

  2. Fold and turn on the room screen

Fold the phone to about 90 degrees, with the outer screen facing the room, and hold the flat half like a gamepad. Tap Turn on the room screen, or the Room screen off chip at the top. The first time, iOS asks for the camera: allow it. The chip turns to Room screen on, and the room sees the board, the open clue with its clock, the team that buzzed, the reveal and the scores.

  3. Pick who starts

The pad shows a button per team. Tap the team that picks the first clue.

  4. Open the clue the team calls

The flat half is now the clue board. Tap the clue the team calls, and it opens on the outer screen. The Double Up clue is marked for you only: the room sees a normal tile.

  5. Judge the answer

Tap the team that answered first; with phone buzzers, the buzz picks the team for you. Then tap Wrong on the left or Correct +600 on the right. After a miss, the pad shows the teams that can still answer. Tap Back to board when the answer is revealed.

  6. Double Up and Final Wager

On the Double Up clue, the bet shows large up top. Tap a quick pick (Lowest, Half, All in or a step of 100), then Show the clue, then the wrong or right button. In the Final Wager, tap Reveal the clue and Start the reveal, then take the papers one team at a time: the bet, then Wrong or Right.

  7. Turn off the room screen

Tap ... at the top, then Turn off the room screen, or leave the game. The camera stops with the room screen. The same menu holds Redo, End Game and Game screen.

Tips

  • To close a clue with no points, tap Nobody scored by the fold, then Confirm: nobody scored.
  • The lobby and the final standings stay on the normal control panel. The outer screen still shows the game during them.
  • A TV or projector on AirPlay or a cable still works: it shows the same game as the outer screen.
  • The chip reads Room screen starting while iOS has not shown the outer screen yet, for example after a call took the camera. Tap it to try again.

Questions

Does the room see the Double Up mark?

No. Only you see the mark on the inner screen. The outer screen shows a normal tile.

Why does the camera turn on?

iOS lets an app show its own picture on the iPhone Duo's outer screen only while the app uses the camera. Quizado runs the camera with no preview while the room screen is on. Nothing is recorded or sent.
