Play Territory on iPhone Duo

Fold your iPhone Duo and run a whole Territory game from your hands. The room sees the picture and both clocks on the outer screen, and you judge each duel with your thumbs.

Every plan
1 of 6This is iPhone Duo, closed. It has a second screen on the outside, about the size of one half of the inner screen.

The animation shows Territory on one iPhone Duo in six steps:

  1. This is iPhone Duo, closed. It has a second screen on the outside, about the size of one half of the inner screen.
  2. Open it like a book. The big inner screen is your host panel.
  3. Fold it to about 90 degrees. Hold the flat half like a gamepad, then tap Turn on the room screen.
  4. The outer screen faces the room. Teams see the picture and both clocks.
  5. The inner screen faces you. You read the answer. Tap Correct, and the other team's clock starts.
  6. Close the phone, and the room screen goes off. The duel pauses at once. Fold it back to about 90 degrees and tap Resume.
Before you start

You need an iPhone Duo with iOS 27.1 or later and the Quizado app for iPhone. Territory plays on every plan, the free Home plan too; premium nights need Starter or higher. 4 to 16 teams play, and nobody needs a phone. iOS shows our game on the outer screen only while the camera is on, so you see the camera dot. Nothing is recorded or sent.

  1. Start Territory

Start Territory in the Quizado app as usual: pick a night, add the teams and start the game. The controller appears on the control panel once the game runs.

  2. Fold and turn on the room screen

Fold the phone to about 90 degrees, with the outer screen facing the room, and hold the flat half like a gamepad. Tap Turn on the room screen, or the Room screen off chip at the top. The first time, iOS asks for the camera: allow it. The chip turns to Room screen on, and the room sees the board.

  3. Draw a challenger and pick the defender

Tap Draw a challenger. The drawn team calls out a neighbour, and the neighbours show as big buttons in their team colours: tap the one they called. Draw again and Random neighbour sit in the row by the fold.

  4. Start the duel

Call one player from each team to the front and tap Start duel. The room sees the picture large on the outer screen, with both clocks under it.

  5. Judge with your thumbs

Up top you see the picture, the answer only you see, what comes next and both clocks. Tap Correct with your right thumb for a right answer, and Pass with your left thumb when they pass. Pause, and Skip for a bad picture, sit by the fold.

  6. Draw next or duel again

After a duel, tap Draw next on the left, or the right button to let the winner duel again. When the game ends, tap Play Again for a new board with the same teams.

  7. Turn off the room screen

Tap ... at the top, then Turn off the room screen, or leave the game. The camera stops with the room screen. The same menu holds Redo, End Game and Game screen.

Tips

  • Close the phone during a duel and the duel pauses, so no team loses time the room could not see. Fold it back to about 90 degrees and resume the duel.
  • Wrong call? Undo in the row by the fold puts the board and both clocks back.
  • A TV or projector on AirPlay or a cable still works: it shows the same game as the outer screen.
  • The chip reads Room screen starting while iOS has not shown the outer screen yet, for example after a call took the camera. Tap it to try again.

Questions

Can the room see the answer?

No. The answer shows only on the upright half of the inner screen, which faces you. The outer screen shows the picture and both clocks.

Do players need phones?

No. One player from each team comes up and answers out loud, and you judge on the iPhone Duo.

Why does the camera turn on?

iOS lets an app show its own picture on the iPhone Duo's outer screen only while the app uses the camera. Quizado runs the camera with no preview while the room screen is on. Nothing is recorded or sent.
