You can write every question type on every plan, including Home. An audience vote you wrote plays from Starter. To host a pack with questions you wrote yourself, you need Pro or Business.
Pick the type in the question editor
In the pack builder, click Write a new question. The Question type row at the top shows every type. Click one, and the editor shows the fields of that type.
Play the pack to see each type on a phone
Click Use in game: the lobby opens. Teams join and answer on their phones. The next steps show what a phone looks like for each type.
Multiple choice: one tap
Multiple choice has one right answer. The phone shows the options, and the team taps one.
Pick several: tick and send
With Pick several, you tick every right answer in the editor. On the phone, the team ticks one or more options and then sends them. Teams can earn partial credit.
Majority wins: the popular pick scores
Majority wins has no right answer. The phone shows the options like a multiple-choice question. The answer that most teams picked scores.
Number: guess a number
For a Number question, you type the Target value and pick a Scoring rule, for example Closest without going over. Under Players answer with, pick Slider or Keypad. On the phone, the team drags the slider or types on the keypad, then locks the answer in.
Order: put items in order
An Order question has 3 to 6 items, each with a Value. On the phone, the team drags the items into order and taps Lock this order. Every item in its right place scores.
Open-ended: type or draw the answer
With Open-ended, the team types its answer on the phone and taps Submit answer. You mark every answer right or wrong on the control panel before you reveal. Turn on Let teams draw instead of typing on an open-ended question. The phone shows a canvas. The team draws, taps Submit drawing, and you mark the drawing on the control panel.
Tips
- Audience vote lets the crowd pick the answer live, so it has no right answer. It needs phones in the audience as well as the team phones.
- Catch That Tune plays a song clip, and teams pick the title. The wrong titles are picked for you.
- Fill in Expected answer on an open-ended question. You see it while you mark.
- Pick Easy, Medium or Hard under Difficulty before you save a question.
- In a Buzzer Race round, an open-ended question is buzz first: the team that buzzes has 20 seconds to type its answer. A wrong answer hands the buzzer back.
- A Majority wins question follows its round: in a Wager round teams bet on it, and in a Knockout round a team that picks a less popular answer is out.
Questions
When does Pick several give partial credit?
In Everyone Scores and Wager rounds. In Buzzer Race, Fastest Finger and Knockout rounds, a team needs every right answer to score.
Does the speed bonus count on a number, order or open-ended question?
Not on a number or order question: a number scores by how close the guess is, an order by the items in their right place. Open-ended answers earn it like multiple-choice answers, in the round types that pay it.
Can I change a question's type later?
Yes. Open the question in the pack builder and pick another type. The rest of the question stays.
