Fixes

A player cannot join or dropped out of the game. What do I check?

Most join problems come from an old code, a full free game or a phone that lost its connection. Each has a quick fix, and a player who drops out can rejoin their team.

Every plan
Before you start

This is for Trivia, where players join on their phones. On the free Home plan, up to 4 player phones can join a game. Paid plans and the trial have no phone limit.

  1. Check the code

Every game has its own 6-digit code. A code from an earlier game does not work. If the phone says Invalid code. Please check and try again., read the code on the big screen again, or have players scan the QR code instead of typing.

  2. Check the phone limit

On the free Home plan, a fifth phone cannot join and sees that the game is full. Ask teammates to share a phone, or move to a paid plan to remove the limit.

  3. Check the phone's connection

If the phone says You are offline. Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data., the page reconnects by itself once the connection is back. On a weak venue Wi-Fi, ask players to switch to mobile data.

  4. Rejoin the same team

A player who dropped out opens the same link or code again. The join screen offers to take them back to their team. They tap Rejoin to keep the team's score. A new team would start at 0 in the current round.

  5. Reload a stuck page

If a phone shows a blank or frozen screen, reload the page. If the browser translated the page, turn the translation off and reload.

Tips

  • Share the join link in a group chat instead of reading the code out. Players tap it and land on the join screen.
  • Ask players to keep the quiz page open in front and the phone awake during a round.

Questions

Does a player lose their score if their phone disconnects?

No, if they rejoin the same team. The team keeps its score. Only a brand new team starts from 0.

Can a late team still join?

Yes. Under New teams in the lobby you choose whether late teams get in straight away or wait for your OK.

How long does a game code work?

For that game only. Start a new game and it gets a new code.
