What are Wager, Buzzer Race, Fastest Finger, Knockout and Majority Rules rounds?

Every Trivia round has a round type. It decides who may answer and who scores. You pick it per round in the pack builder, so one night can mix several types.

Every plan

Before you start

Every round type is free to pick on every plan, the free Home plan too. Music Bingo rounds save on every plan, but hosting one needs Pro or Business. You need a Trivia pack with at least one round.

  1. Open the round settings

In the sidebar, click Custom Questions and click Edit on your pack. Pick a round, then click Edit round settings. The Round Settings window opens.

  2. Compare the round types

Buzzer Race: the first team to buzz gets to answer. Fastest Finger: everyone answers, and the fastest right answer wins the points. Everyone Scores: every team that answers right scores.

  3. Majority Rules and Knockout

Majority Rules: the most-picked answer scores. Knockout: a wrong answer or no answer ends the round for that team. It loses no points.

  4. Pick Wager

Click Wager: teams bet points before they answer. A right answer wins the bet, a wrong one loses it. The Wager rules appear below.

  5. Set the wager rules

Under Wager Based On, pick % of Question Points or % of Total Score: the most a team can bet. Then set a Betting time limit or No limit.

  6. Save the round

Click Save. The round plays with its new type the next time you start a game with this pack.

Tips

  • In a Buzzer Race with a timer and auto-lock on, the team that buzzes has 10 seconds to answer, or 20 seconds to type on an open-ended question. Running out of time counts as a wrong answer.
  • Under Wrong Answer, a Buzzer Race can Reopen for others or Move to next question after a wrong answer.
  • In Fastest Finger a right answer does not close the question. The question stays open for every team, and the first right answer wins.
  • A team that misses the betting window still plays, for a small automatic bet (the auto-ante). It wins that bet if right and loses it if wrong, like any bet.
  • A partly right answer in a Wager round wins its share of the bet. A Majority question in a Wager round is a bet too: the most-picked answer wins it.

Questions

Can one game mix round types?

Yes. The round type belongs to the round, so every round in a pack can use a different type.

What happens when the betting time runs out?

The bets lock. A team that did not bet plays for its auto-ante: won if right, lost if wrong.

Do players see the round type?

Yes. The player phones and the big screen show the round's rules, for example that the most-picked answer wins.
