These steps are for the Quizado desktop app on Windows. You may need an administrator account to change the firewall. Until it works, sign in at app.quizado.com in your browser. It is the same account.
Test the connection
Open your browser on the same computer and go to https://api.quizado.com. A short line of text with Route not found means the connection works. A block page, a warning or an error means your network blocks the address. Then go to the last step.
Try another network
Connect the computer to your phone's hotspot. Open Quizado and click Send Code again. If it works now, the office or venue network blocks the app.
Allow Quizado in Windows Firewall
Open the Start menu and open Windows Security. Click Firewall & network protection, then Allow an app through firewall. Click Change settings, find Quizado and tick Private and Public. If Quizado is not in the list, click Allow another app and pick it.
Check your antivirus
An antivirus such as Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, ESET, Bitdefender or Avast has its own firewall. Open it, look for its firewall or its list of blocked apps, and allow Quizado.
Close Quizado and sign in again
Close Quizado completely and open it again. Type your email and click Send Code.
Ask your IT person
On a work computer, ask the person who manages the network to allow api.quizado.com on port 443 (HTTPS) for the Quizado app.
Tips
- The website app connects in another way, so it can work on the same computer while the desktop app is blocked.
- A VPN or a proxy can also block the app. Turn it off for one try.
Questions
The website works on this computer. Why not the desktop app?
Your browser and the desktop app are two programs, and they reach Quizado at different addresses. A firewall can allow one and block the other.
Is it safe to allow Quizado through the firewall?
Allow the app by name. That is safer than opening a port, and you can remove it from the list at any time.
The app showed no error, but the code did not arrive. What now?
Then the app reached Quizado and the email is the problem. Check your spam folder and the address you typed.
